Botswana - Safari Costs

We have four premiere safari outfitters in Botswana- Hakuna Matata Safaris with Thys DeVries, Holbrow Hunting Safaris with Peter Holbrow, Bottlepan Safaris with Mike Murray, and Destination South with Alan Schmitt.

Holbrow Hunting Safaris
In the 2006 Botswana Safari season Peter Holbrow guided his clients to 5 of the 10 biggest elephant taken in the entire country with their bulls occupying the number 1, 2, 3 and 4 positions. Year in and year out Peter produces the highest ivory average in Botswana. In the 2007 season his clients took 10 bulls- 6 in the 70+ pound range and 4 over the 60 pound mark. No bulls less than 60 were shot. This is something no other outfitter in Botswana has been able to accomplish.

The hunting season runs from the first week of April to the third week of September. The temperature ranges from 6ºC to 33ºC with little chance of rainfall during this period.

Peter Holbrow ensures that whether you are a hunter or an observer, all your needs will be met, providing for an unforgettable African hunting experience.

Hakuna Matata with Thys DeVries
The DeVries family was the first big game outfitter that Adventure Unlimited represented when we opened our doors. Over the last 20 years they have produced incredible safaris for their clients at very reasonable prices. The family principals which included father Buck DeVries and sons Pen and Thys DeVries have been pioneering forces in the African hunting industry.

The DeVries family lost their beautiful Lions Den Safaris homestead in Zimbabwe when the government began reclaiming the private land in Zimbabwe, but the family extended its operations into big game concessions throughout Zimbabwe, and for the last 5 years have taken their hunters to the prime concessions in Botswana.

Thys DeVries and his professional hunters are known for producing big ivory, formerly in the Tscholotsho South block of Zimbabwe where they took dozens of bulls with ivory in the 70 to 92 pound range. Thys and his professional hunters won just about every award for elephant that the Zimbabwe professional hunters association gives out.

Now their tradition continues in some of the finest hunting blocks of Botswana where they have been hunting for the last 5 years.

One of the prime concessions is situated between the famous Chobe National Park and the equally famous Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe. This is a direct and natural corridor between the two parks, and a natural highway for the elephants. You could not pick a more strategic elephant hunting destination anywhere in the world. The region is home to large numbers of elephant and has been managed extensively to give clients the best opportunity in Africa for taking a truly magnificent trophy tusker. It consistently produces among the highest ivory averages in all of southern Africa. Other species common to the area include buffalo, eland and leopard.
